Congratulations on your pregnancy. While your body is at work creating your baby you are likely to be experiencing quite a journey. Every mum will have a unique experience, with common threads that make this a great time to connect with others in a similar position.

It is paramount that you attend specifically designed classes. While we seek to accommodate pregnancy in all our classes, not all our teachers are trained in prenatal knowledge and therefore find that adjusting the spectrum of exercises to suit pregnancy compromises the experience for everyone in the class, including you.

PLEASE NOTE, PLEASE WAIT UNTIL AFTER YOUR 12 WEEK SCAN BEFORE ATTENDING ANY NEW FORM OF EXERCISE. THIS IS BASED ON ADVICE GIVEN BY THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNAECOLOGISTS.

For personal attention 1:1 sessions can be a good way to introduce yourself to exercises and to ensure that you are doing them correctly. Sessions are available at reCentre for Yoga, matwork and apparatus Pilates. Please ask reception for more details.

PHYSIO LED PREGNANCY PILATES

These classes hold a maximum of nine people and provide you with the most up to date information on how to look after your body during pregnancy. Taught by one of our experienced women’s health physiotherapists, you can be assured of the best possible care.

Yoga during pregnancy provides you with the tools for relaxation, healthy breathing and provides the following benefits.

BABY-A-WAKE COURSES

Ante Natal Pilates with Jane wake

Baby A-Wake classes are designed and created by Jane Wake, the creator of the Baby-a-wake method. The classes are run on a 12 week course basis and everyone is welcome to attend one class for free (providing there is space) to try it out. The focus of the classes is your body is going through lots of changes that will have a particular bearing on your posture and overall strength. In the classes you will work with the teacher to develop a repertoire of exercises that you can use at any time, home, work or gym. These exercises, done on a regular basis can make a huge difference to your health and fitness throughout pregnancy and aid you through your recovery. You will be given lots of advice and help through update emails and information cards to ensure that you feel totally comfortable doing these exercises on your own. You then of course have the class every week to guide you. At the reCentre studio all the classes have a maximum of 10 people.
