Norah also supports women in protecting their mental health whilst nearing or going through the menopause in preparation for this important stage of womanhood.

Norah also trained as a Reproductive and Pregnancy Reflexologist as she likes to take a more hands-on approach and offers specialist support to clients who may have unexplained infertility, secondary infertility, low AMH results, PCOS, endometriosis, hormone imbalance or poor sperm results to enhance  chances of conception whether trying to conceive naturally or with assisted conception.

‘……Following my miscarriage earlier in the year, I struggled to get my cycles back on track. Put it down to my body realigning or stress, I was willing to try any suggestions to fall pregnant again! Alongside following my cycle, I dabbled with acupuncturists and nutritionists. Neither of the aforementioned rung accord with me.

I do clearly remember my first session with Norah though. She was the one and only person who really acknowledged my circumstance and what I had been through as something I was, and indeed should be, sad about. I am fortunate to have an incredible support network of friends and family who rally to my side at the first sign of trouble or distress. However, I felt the predominant message was. - “it could be worse”.

Norah was very much a therapist AND reflexologist for me…..’ She has been such a huge part of my journey to motherhood and I will be eternally grateful.’

Chez SW17

‘Norah was a ray of light that was so needed as my husband and I navigated our way through an incredibly tough fertility journey.  We both always left the treatment room feeling calm and relaxed and I have no doubt her treatments helped us towards parenthood.  She listened, she believed in us and she was there literally the day before I gave birth.’

Mel C SW17

‘I first went to see Norah on a close friend’s recommendation after I suffered a miscarriage in July 2017.  Norah’s calm and relaxing demeanour together with the perfectly targeted reflexology treatments were without doubt one of the key factors in getting me through that experience.  I continued seeing Norah while trying to conceive again a few months later, with the ultimate success of the birth of our perfectly healthy baby in September 2017.  In early 2020 I started seeing Norah again for a combination of talk therapy and reflexology as I know she would be the perfect support as we started the journey in further expanding our family.’

Alexandra is currently on maternity leave and plans to return to clinic early 2021.

Alexandra is a chartered Counselling Psychologist and is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). She completed a professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (PsychD) at the University of Roehampton. In addition she has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Nottingham.

Alexandra’s Approach

As a psychologist, Alexandra’s approach begins with an attitude of warmth, responsiveness and kindness. She uses collaborative enquiry to help clients to gain a greater understanding and insight into their problems. Alexandra is very aware that each client’s journey to counselling is particular to them. We may have a sense of being alone, feel hopeless, guilty or overwhelmed, but we might find it hard to pinpoint what in particular brought us here. Alternatively we may know exactly why we are here, but not have a clue what to do about it.

Alexandra’s approach recognises how different each person’s experience is and addresses this by taking an integrative approach to counselling. Drawing on her clinical expertise in humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies, she tailors therapy to clients’ unique needs and requirements.

Alexandra’s Expertise

Before qualifying as a Psychologist, Alexandra worked in communications in the international humanitarian sector. Her work in this field led her to develop a specialist interest in Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, anxiety and depression, and she undertook specialist training in NHS services dedicated to these problems.

Alexandra has extensive experience of working with individuals who have suffered difficult and challenging circumstances in their family lives. She has also worked frequently with men and women who are survivors of emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse. Alexandra recognises the pain, anger and shame that often accompany such experiences, and how difficult it can be for clients to discuss their lives in therapy. She is continuously humbled by the bravery and capacity to heal she witnesses in her clients and feels privileged to work with them through this process.

In addition to supporting clients facing the challenges mentioned above, Alexandra also runs a practice focused on women’s mental health. She provides counselling and psychological therapy that aims to support women in their many female-centric experiences. Many of these experiences are incredibly difficult and disorientating, yet they are often swept aside and labelled “normal” simply because they are common.

Such experiences include fertility problems, miscarriage, pregnancy and fear of pregnancy and childbirth (tokophobia). Alexandra is also passionate about working with women in the post-natal period, whether it be in adjusting to a new or changing identity as a parent, working to develop self-compassion and self-care, supporting women suffering from post-natal depression or to heal and recover from a traumatic birth experience. She also provides therapy home-visits for new mums.

Alexandra sees clients who are self-funding their therapy, or paying for their therapy through their healthcare insurance. Alexandra is registered as a healthcare provider with AXA PPP, Aviva and Vitality Health.

New Babies

The birthing process can be traumatic for baby, especially if the birth has been difficult or assisted with forceps or ventouse. A baby's head comes under enormous pressure as it journeys along the birth canal and can absorb a great deal of stress.

Our paediatric specialists, Marcia Hugall and Ruth Levitan, use the very gentle cranial osteopathy approach to treat many babies. Stresses and tensions are released using specific, light pressure which is gentle, safe and effective for babies and children.

Our Paediatric Specialists

Ruth Levitan

Ruth is one of our resident Paediatric Osteopaths. With over 20 years’ experience as an osteopath, she specialises in the treatment of babies, children and post-partum mothers. She holds a Masters in Paediatric Osteopathy from the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy, and is a tutor at the University of Osteopathy on their Post-graduate Diploma in Paediatrics.

Ruth uses a variety of techniques when treating you or your child, and particularly favours gentler methods such as cranial osteopathy, which suit a wide selection of patients and problems. She uses her extensive experience as a practitioner and lecturer in the UK and Australia to treat patients of all ages.

In her spare time Ruth enjoys walking, cycling and yoga. She is a mother to young twin boys.

Marcia Hugall

Marcia Hugall is a fully qualified, GSoC registered osteopath. She became a MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy in 2009 and has worked at the Osteopathic Centre for Children, Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy.

Marcia has lectured at the both the British School of Osteopathy and the London School of Osteopathy. She is also a member of the Cranial Academy, a branch of the American Academy of Osteopathy, having carried out post-graduate study in the USA.

Marcia is a registered osteopath with BUPA, AXA PPP and other private medical insurance companies.
