Therapeutic Massage in Balham

If your goal is to de-stress, unwind, and reconnect with yourself, our therapeutic massages are designed with relaxation and holistic healing in mind. These treatments support emotional balance, calm the nervous system, and promote a deep sense of well-being.
Aromatherapy Massage is one of the oldest and most effective forms of medicine to date, a multifaceted healing art using the essential oils obtained from aromatic plants to promote health of mind and body in combination with massage.
Essential oils contain a variety of chemical constituents, each oil being a complex mixture with over a hundred active chemical components that have different therapeutic properties. Combining the benefits of the oils with therapeutic massage makes aromatherapy one of the most effective and pleasurable experiences to receive.
Holistic Massage is a therapeutic treatment that focuses on the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – rather than just addressing specific physical symptoms. This massage technique combines traditional and modern methods to promote overall well-being, relaxation, and balance.
Holistic Massage is ideal for reducing stress, relieving tension, improving circulation, and supporting emotional health. It is a deeply nurturing experience that aims to restore harmony and reconnect you with your inner self.
Treatments will be designed to treat you as an individual at a particular point in time and will take into consideration, your personal needs and any outcomes you are aiming to achieve. Your treatment may include a variety of massage approaches, utilising the many skills your therapist has to offer.
Hot Stone Massage is a specialist massage that uses smooth, flat, heated basalt stones placed on points throughout the body. Based on the principles of hydrotherapy, the combination of the embodied heat and coolness of the stones penetrate muscle tension at the deepest level, allowing the muscles to relax 4-5 times faster than a standard body massage with the effects lasting for up to 72 hours – calming the mind, warming the body and giving welcome relief from the effects of physical and mental stress.
The hot basalt stones can help to increase blood supply to the area, reduce muscle contraction and pain, promote relaxation and increase ease of movement, considerably speeding up the healing process and injury recovery time.
As well as relieving muscular tension, the therapeutic nature of the treatments enables them to address a wide range of conditions, specific issues or may be experienced as a whole-body treatment. It is an excellent all-round therapy and a luxurious treat, leaving you feeling stress-free and uplifted.
Indian Head Massage helps to ease tension specifically across the shoulders, neck, scalp and face, Indian Head Massage is a highly effective technique for the treatment of stress related conditions. It can specifically help relieve headaches and migraines, reduce anxiety and insomnia, improve concentration and memory and stimulate hair growth.
This slow and soothing therapeutic massage is safe in all stages of pregnancy, assisting you through the emotional changes as well the physical. With a calm and caring approach, therapeutic pregnancy massage provides deeply relaxing and nurturing sessions supporting the mother’s connection with her baby.
At the beginning of your treatment, you will have time to talk so that your treatment can be tailored to your needs. The session can include full-body or upper body only massage with focus on your back or any area that needs particular attention.
Therapeutic Sports Massage aims to address imbalances in the soft tissue of sports people or anyone participating in regular physical activity. Strain or injury can result from repetitive movements associated with sports and other activities and sports massage can be done before or after activity to help enhance performance, prevent injury or aid recovery from injury. Each massage will be designed to address your individual needs.
Although scars rarely pose a health risk and aren’t obligated to be problematic, the physical and aesthetic discomfort that many people endure, open the door to a world of unpleasant symptoms ranging from generalised pain, pain at the site of the scar, tingling, lack of mobility, numbness, a sense of constant tugging/pulling or distress from the appearance. Scar tissue has a different textural quality than normal skin, feeling less flexible and mobile.
Scar Massage Therapy can help to reduce this scar tissue build-up and promote a flatter, softer, more mobile scar, and therefore enable better movement throughout the whole body. It can also reduce the appearance of scar tissue. As a result, it not only has physical benefits including improved mobility and reduced tension in specific areas but also helps to improve the connection with the body if there are any associated feelings of trauma that may be causing unpleasant emotions. Many surgeons will recommend Scar Massage to stimulate and boost healing, and to minimise any long-term complications.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage is a very gentle, non-invasive, rhythmic treatment using a series of pumping actions to stimulate the lymphatic system. It therefore has a powerful cleansing effect, is extremely relaxing, and not only a great way to reduce fluid retention but also a great detox.
Research in Australia, Europe and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other therapies. Developed in France in 1932 by Dr. Emil and Estrid Vodder MLD has grown to be the most well-known manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues.
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle manual technique used to help increase lymph flow. MLD is a skin stretching technique used to mimic the Lymphatic system’s natural movement. The movement is relaxing to the point of being almost hypnotic. The body switches to the parasympathetic nervous system which promotes self-healing and restfulness. The skin is stretched in a specific manner, based on scientific, physiological principles that have been proven to encourage lymph flow. It also has profound effects on systems of the body.
Lymphatic drainage is very beneficial as a post-operative treatment as well as for sprained or strained joints and swollen ankles during pregnancy.
