Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimum health and peak performance. Nutritional therapy takes an individually tailored approach to restoring effective digestion and correcting nutritional imbalances which may be causing or contributing to symptoms of poor health.
Your need for nutrients is highly individual. Nutrients, from food, are vital to health because they are the driving force behind every process in the body. However, factors such as your inherited strengths and weakness, your state of health, lifestyle, and environment and, of course, your dietary history all influence your need.
Inadequate nutrients may cause minor symptoms initially, but in the longer term they can be a significant factor in the development of chronic or degenerative disease. So whether you are just lacking energy or trying to manage a long term condition such as heart disease or diabetes, nutritional therapy may help.

Nutritional Therapy FAQs
What happens in a nutrition therapy appointment?
The initial consultation will take about 90 minutes during which you will be taken through a detailed history and recommendations may be made for a variety of biochemical and other types of clinical assessment to establish your nutritional status and functional capacity. You will work together to set realistic goals which can change old habits, restore your body’s natural healing potential and empower you to take control of your health.
Will there be any tests (e.g. blood tests)?
If indicated, a Nutritional Therapist is able to offer non-invasive screening for nutritional deficiencies together with food and environmental allergy testing using the most up to date bio-dermal clinical screening technology.
Our Senior Nutritional Therapist
Kate Delmar-Morgan Registered Nutritional Therapist BSc Hons (1st), mBANT, rCNHC, mIFM
My interest in nutrition began over 20 years ago, whilst I was working in a highly pressurised role and stressful environment. I had crippling IBS symptoms, and realised that my diet was having a big impact on how I was feeling – so I went to see a Nutritional Therapist. This was the beginning of my nutrition journey and set me on a path to becoming a degree-qualified Registered Nutritional Therapist (rCNHC) and Registered Nutritionist (mBANT) in 2006. I am absolutely passionate about helping people to understand the connection between food and their wellbeing, and my role is to support YOU on your own journey to better health and performance.
Nutritional therapy supports the whole person, rather than separate parts of the body, and addresses the underlying causes of illness, rather than the symptoms – this systems biology-based approach is known as Functional Medicine. In clinic, I use the principles of Functional Medicine to provide you with personalised nutrition and lifestyle support, with sensible, practical, safe and evidence-based advice.
I’m especially interested in the following areas: digestion and gut health, hormone issues, immunity and auto-immune conditions (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis myself), cancer, learning disorders, sleep, skin, energy, stress and adrenal fatigue. My clients often come to see me with a number of health issues that they may wish to address.
For the last 13 years I have been working with people of all ages, including children. The way I operate is to work in collaboration with you, setting achievable goals and using tools to encourage healthy dietary habits. I guide you through the changes to help address your health issues and enable you to achieve your objectives. I may also recommend functional testing if further investigation is warranted, and supplements where there is a need. Whilst there is a place for supplementation on a temporary basis, my many years of clinical practice has re-affirmed to me that obtaining nutrients from real food is the key to restoring a healthful balance. But it is not just diet that has a profound impact on body and mind – lifestyle factors are a key part of the health and wellness puzzle too, and recommendations may also be made for making positive lifestyle changes in order to bring about more effective change. I also prefer to work in an integrative style alongside medical doctors and other practitioners who may have a role in supporting you.
As well as my work in clinic, I am involved with organisations that help to shape the nutrition profession. This includes the British Association of Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), where I sit on the Professional Practice Committee with a role in upholding the professional standards of Nutritional Therapists, and also the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), where I lecture and work part-time. I am the Nutritionist for a number of organisations including DDB Adam & Eve, The Body Retreat, and Bundle. I run nutrition workshops (look out for these on the ReCentre website), and I am often invited to speak at nutrition-related events and to make comment in nutrition-related publications. Last year I was a keynote speaker at the London GP Trainee conference talking about the role of personalised nutrition in prevention of chronic disease.
I am fully insured and I keep up to date with all the latest research by attending continual professional development courses and seminars, and I am a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine while currently training to become a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner.

TESTIMONIALS
I just want to say thanks for all of your help in changing my diet. I feel so much happier and healthier now and I’m so glad I found you! You gave me the push I needed to change things around. I have recommended you to some of my friends who are in the similar mum ‘cake eating’ phase! I think it’s easy to say you want to change but harder to actually make the steps to change. Still, I hope for their sake, they give you a call as I feel that it’s worth every penny. Now, I am nutritionally set for life! Becky, London
This has been my first experience of seeing a nutritionist and I cannot recommend Kate enough. After 2 years of digestive problems and a collection of acute and chronic symptoms including pain, early satiety, constipation and an inability to taste properly, plus a weakened immune system – all of which had baffled doctors – and ultimately being diagnosed as IBS, I now am pain-free: able to eat normally and taste and enjoy my food again; I sleep better; am a healthy weight and feel much more energetic. In addition, I feel I know more about the workings of the gut and how important it is to keep it well maintained. Pamela, Surrey
I have felt the benefits of your nutritional therapy for the migraine and fatigue condition I have been suffering from. Your diet advice has been enlightening and it is great to feel that I can do something to help myself. Annabel, London
Going to see Kate has literally been life-changing. I previously had a very unhealthy relationship with food and was making my food choices for all the wrong reasons. Her assessment of my situation and needs was very thorough and her guidance was clear and easy to follow. In a short space of time she got me eating and feeling better than I have done for years, and choosing foods which are not only very good for me but extremely tasty! Anna, SW London
I started my nutritional therapy 2 years ago when I was at an unhealthy weight and had an unhealthy relationship with food. Kate has taught me how to look at food in terms of nutrition, not calories. Learning how to structure my meals and make healthier substitutes. I found my therapy very supportive and by no means judgemental. Kate is encouraging and supportive. I’d highly recommend her service. Daphne, London
Experienced Nutritional Therapist
Raquel Martin BSc Hons, Dip NT, mBANT, rCNHC
I am a registered nutritional therapist with more than 8 years’ experience supporting clients with a variety of health conditions.
Are you feeling below par? Are you tired of feeling unwell, but being told that your tests look normal? Nutritional Therapy can help and I’m passionate about being a resource for positive change for people experiencing chronic conditions. I offer a practical approach that can be incorporated into your lifestyle.
If you suffer from fatigue, skin conditions, gastro-intestinal complaints, lack of sleep, stress, mood disorders, hormonal imbalances (e.g. thyroid, sex hormones), auto-immune disorders, you are struggling to lose weight or you would simply like to eat more healthily, you may benefit from a consultation.
Prior to the initial consultation I will send you a food diary and a short questionnaire to complete and return before the appointment. This will help me build an initial picture of you. Your first consultation will last between 60 – 90 mins during which I will gather additional information about your health and create a case history geared towards finding the root cause of your symptoms. This will enable me to create a unique nutritional programme for you. Your treatment plan is likely to include nutritional advice, lifestyle changes and, if necessary, supplements on a short term basis. It may also include recommendations on laboratory testing, including genetic testing.
I graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) with a diploma in naturopathic nutrition. CNM is highly-respected and well-known natural medicine training providers, with colleges all over the UK and Ireland. During my final year at CNM, my final portfolio was selected to represent outstanding work in that year’s accreditation.
My interest in nutrition started as I struggled with my own health issues years ago. As time went by, I had to stop doing sport, which made me feel distraught and inspired me to find a way to recover. After more than a year of visiting doctors, undertaking tests, physiotherapy…etc., I wasn’t getting any better. Eventually, I followed a nutritional protocol and today I am healthy and I can do sport like I used to. Experiencing the healing power of food was a huge eye opener for me, to the point that I decided to change career and qualify as a nutritional therapist.
Before making this career move to nutrition I worked in the corporate world for almost twenty years, so I am fully conversant with the challenges of trying to follow a healthy lifestyle with the daily juggling act of a stressful job.
Continually learning and deepening my knowledge is of vital importance to me. New and exciting studies emerge every day and with them new research information comes to light. I love keeping up with developments in the world of health and wellbeing, which means that I regularly attend CPD (continual professional development) courses, lectures and seminars so I’m always up to date with new research, practical applications and safe practice.

Here are some testimonials from my clients:
I have been seeing Raquel for almost a year now after struggling to get any useful treatment for long term reflux (GERD) through my GP / the NHS. Raquel is extremely thorough and knowledgeable and really wants to get to the root of your health issues. Through trying out different diets, supplements and lifestyle changes recommended by her my symptoms have improved massively and continue to do so. Kate
I came to see Raquel as I had extremely bad eczema. I tried everything to sort it out and nothing worked. Doctors couldn’t help, apart from giving me steroids and other methods such as traditional Chinese medicine also didn’t help. Raquel helped me completely clear up my eczema by giving me supplements and changing my diet. She has completely changed my life as my eczema affected my confidence significantly. I never thought I would ever be eczema free, but now, thanks to Raquel I am! Jasmine
I began seeing Raquel after being diagnosed with IBS and being told by doctors that I would just have to put up with the symptoms and there was no way to get rid of it. Through lifestyle changes, a comprehensive diet plan and a supplement regime recommended by Raquel my symptoms drastically improved allowing me to return back to normal life. An incredibly positive experience as Raquel was very supportive and knowledgeable and helped me get to the root of my problem. I would 100% recommend anyone facing similar digestive problems to visit Raquel for life changing results. Lucy
I came to Raquel with a number of symptoms and after completing a range of tests, I was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s. It was certainly a lightbulb moment for me and the more I learned from Raquel, the more I could see how the many symptoms I’d been experiencing over the years had led to this diagnosis. Raquel suggested a number of ways to address my symptoms including nutritional advice, supplements, exercise and stress management. Within a few days of following her advice I felt so much better and I’ve continued to see improvements in my health and energy levels. I credit Raquel’s quick diagnosis and treatment plan with helping me achieve a healthy pregnancy, and her pragmatic advice and support has made my condition seem much less daunting. I thoroughly recommend Raquel. Liz
I believe that Raquel is a great professional and I am very grateful for what she has done to improve my health. When I started seeing her I had been feeling unwell for many years (slow and heavy digestions and a lot of gas), to which traditional medicine had no answers for. Raquel advised me to do some laboratory testing, which is how I found out that I had SIBO and a lot of food sensitivities (to foods I never thought could be a problem for me!), as well as Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Since I follow Raquel’s recommendations my health has improved an awful lot (much more than I thought was possible based on what I was told by my GP), and I feel better and better every day. Thank you Raquel. Elena
Raquel has been such a help for me to heal my body from the inside out. She is extremely thorough, and will take the time to understand you and your body. Thank you :) Julieta.
I was introduced to Raquel by my sister. At the time I was feeling quite unwell and suffering with digestive issues such as stomach cramps, bloating, acid reflux and constipation as well as insomnia. Raquel carried out a thorough assessment of my symptoms using food diaries and questionnaires and was able to identify that I had SIBO. She suggested that I start a gut healing protocol which included eliminating certain foods for a while and taking supplements. I followed the protocol for a few months and I can honestly say the results have been remarkable. I’ve adjusted my diet and am very happy to say that I no longer suffer with the stomach cramps and bloating that have plagued me most of my adult life. My insomnia has also significantly improved. I feel so much better than before and would highly recommend Raquel to anyone suffering with similar symptoms. Diane.
