Pilates was created by the visionary Joseph Pilates as a complete strengthening system for the body. In essence Pilates teaches the body how to move more effectively and recruit muscles at the right time, for the right job and as efficiently as possible. Pilates is suitable for everyone and is often recommended by physiotherapists as a reliable way of creating balanced strength in the body and resolving muscular strains caused by a busy life, sport, parenting and stress.

At reCentre you do not need to be a member to attend our classes, you do not have to book a course (unless you want to), and we provide all the equipment you need. Our studio is in a temperature controlled and clean-air-filtered room that is dedicated to matwork exercise. Classes can be booked on a drop in basis and we have an online booking system so that you can manage your bookings and easily see what is the best payment option for you.

As a result of regular Pilates your posture will change and you will move more efficiently. You will achieve a strong core, develop longer, leaner muscles and improve your overall sense of well-being. And if you are a sports enthusiast, Pilates will also help improve your game.

Pilates and Physiotherapy

Pilates has become a valuable asset in Physiotherapy treatment and is a technique that greatly enhances rehabilitation, core strength and well-being. Pilates builds strength without building excess bulk in the muscles - it is capable of creating a sleek, toned body with regular practice and dedication.

Pilates Reformer Sessions are now available from our studio. Taught on a one-to-one basis we have various teachers that can run sessions seven days a week. To enquire and book please call reception on 020 8672 4455.

What to expect in a Pilates Class

At reCentre all of our Pilates teachers are qualified through well respected Pilates schools such as The Pilates Foundation, Body Control Pilates and Balance Body. All have at least two years of teaching experience and many are qualified in a wide range of therapies and techniques complementary to their Pilates practice. In the studio we have a maximum of 12 clients in any class. All the equipment you will need is provided and the studio is temperature and filtered air flow controlled, clean and inviting.

It is your responsibility to ensure the teacher is aware of any injuries, illnesses or complications that affect your ability to move. The class will be a series of movements based on the mat that will encourage strength in your body. Afterwards you will feel lighter, more relaxed and ready for life.

1:1 sessions are also available for anyone who has specific requirements or needs, or has been recommended Pilates by a health professional.

Please contact our studio manager on if you have any inquiries or questions.
